In comparison, we found that both chargers support All lead acid batteries. The major thing that may make people confused is that both are interchangeable. But forget that only battery type is not enough; many other things like battery specifications are also considered when using a charger.

Charging Current

We found there is much difference in the current supply. Ctek is a better option because it produces 4.3 A, and in some cases, it could supply 5 A current. But all types of Battery tenders could only produce 1.25 A that makes it different from the Ctek high power supplier charger. You may use battery tender as an alternative for Ctek, but it could not produce enough power as needed for car or truck batteries, making it ineffective.


The dimension of both chargers is quite different; we found Ctek is no doubt a powerful charger, but its size is smaller compared to a battery tender. Battery tender has dimension 11x4x11, while the ctek charger has dimension 4x4x0.5, which is smaller.

The ctek charger completes its charging process in 8 steps, automatic charging process and four separate charge modes. Battery tender offers a fully charged 4 automatic step process.


Both chargers come with warranty cover, but there is much difference in warranty period. Battery tender chargers come with 10 years warranty cover, while the Ctek battery chargers offer only 5 years warranty cover.


We compared them regarding battery voltage and found that both chargers support 12V lead acid batteries; no difference was found.

Working temperature

Ctek could perform efficiently between -4F to 122F while battery tender could not perform under 40F; its range is 41F to 113F. Ctek found efficient than battery tender.

Ctek has many features such as temperature, current, weight, and size, making it a better choice than battery tender. Still, both are recommended for different purposes and could not use as an alternative. Ctek and battery tender support 12 V lead acid batteries, but both are recommended for different batteries due to current production. Ctek is recommended for large, and Battery tender is recommended for small vehicle batteries.
